About

Although we originally reopened as the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation and Learning center in 2013 the renovations actually started back in August 2011. Just a few months ago we decided to change the name of the center to honor the legacy and work that my mom the late Delegate Ruth M. Kirk put into not only the West Baltimore community where she lived but all over Baltimore City. We offer GED adult programs. Young men and women mentorship. Basic computer classes and summer fun camps that also are geared around helping our kids become stronger academically in areas where they are weak.  The mission for the Ruth M. Kirk recreation and learning center is to insure that our kids are educationally ready to succeed during the school year and continue Gods lead when it comes to making this community a better place to live and visit.
